I can’t count how many times I’ve wished someone would just hand me a clear, detailed roadmap. Not just a vague outline or a “you got this!” pep talk - but an actual step-by-step blueprint that takes me from confused and overwhelmed to confident and moving forward.
As someone who spent years in the corporate 9–5 world, I was used to being managed, following processes, and knowing exactly what success looked like. So when I launched my own business, I found myself craving structure. I wanted someone to tell me, “Do this, then that. Avoid this. Focus here.”
And I see this all the time with my clients.

Take the small business owner who has a knot in her stomach every time someone asks for her terms and conditions. She’s Googled her heart out trying to piece together decent legal info, but nothing’s quite right. She knows she needs proper contracts, but the budget for a lawyer just isn’t there yet. So when she finds a legal bundle created just for businesses like hers - one that includes clear templates and explains what to change and where - it feels like she can breathe again.
Or the exhausted mother whose baby hasn’t slept through the night in weeks. She’s tried all the advice from forums and Instagram, but nothing is working and she’s running on empty. Then she finds a straightforward, no-nonsense sleep program designed for her baby’s age and stage - something that actually tells her what to do and when. Suddenly, things start to shift. She has a plan. She sees results. She gets a little of herself back.
This is the power of a clear path.
And if you’re thinking about creating a course, this is what your learners want most: clarity, not complexity. A roadmap they can follow, not a lecture they can Google.

When I work with clients on their course outlines and lesson plans, we spend a lot of time stripping away the excess. Not because their knowledge isn’t valuable - quite the opposite. It’s so valuable that we have to make sure we don’t bury it in overwhelm. We cut the fluff. We remove the “nice to know” content. We get laser-focused on the transformation their learner is after - and we build a course to deliver just that.
There’s a quote often (mis)attributed to everyone from Mark Twain to Winston Churchill to Blaise Pascal - the idea is this:
"If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter."
Creating something concise and powerful takes effort. It’s easier to ramble on for hours than to distil what you know into a focused, step-by-step roadmap. But that precision? That’s where the real results are.
Because your learners can feel the difference. They know when they’re being guided with intention vs. taken on a scenic detour full of bonus materials they didn’t need.

Start with the Transformation Define exactly what your learner will be able to do by the end of your course. Not just what they’ll know - what they’ll achieve or change.
Work Backwards From the Outcome Map out the essential steps someone would need to take to get from point A to that transformation. Be ruthless - if a lesson doesn’t directly support that journey, it probably doesn’t belong.
Create Milestones, Not Modules Think of each part of your course as a milestone on the road - something they accomplish, not just something they consume.
Cut the Clutter Ask yourself: does this video, worksheet, or story move the learner forward? If not, it’s fluff. Fluff doesn’t help. It overwhelms.
Test It With a Real Person Talk it through with a past client or someone in your audience. Does your roadmap make sense to them? Would they get lost? Where would they need more handholding?

This is exactly why I created Plan to Profit - a mini course that helps you go from "I think I have a course idea..." to "Here's my plan, and it actually makes sense."
Plan to Profit gives you the structure, the guidance, and the focus to get your course off the ground in 90 days - without wasting time on things that don’t matter and without drowning your learners in unnecessary content.
The course opens very soon, and I’ll be sharing the registration link shortly.
In the meantime, if this blog post struck a chord and you want to be the first to hear more, just drop me an email at hello@monikakajtar.com. I’d love to hear what kind of course you’re dreaming of - and help you make it a reality.
